No ordinary account

GreenHalos does not require registration and does not maintain a server-side aurora-viewing profile at launch. Language, hemisphere, layer, reduced-data, reduced-motion and catalogue-location identifiers can be stored locally in your browser. GreenHalos cannot recover these preferences after you clear them.

Optional location

If you choose Use my location, the browser asks for permission. GreenHalos uses the coordinate to calculate local sky conditions and select relevant forecast data.

GreenHalos is designed not to retain precise coordinates on its server. If a backend cloud lookup is needed, coordinates are minimised or rounded and retained only as required for the forecast cache.

Technical and security data

Cloudflare processes ordinary network requests to deliver and protect the service. GreenHalos minimises custom logs. Minimal security records are normally retained for seven days or for up to thirty days during a documented incident.

Operational and research data are retrieved through scheduled backend processes. Ordinary visitors do not contact NOAA, NASA or MET Norway directly through GreenHalos.

Advertising, transfers and rights

External display advertising and non-essential analytics are disabled at launch. If activated later, this policy will identify vendors, purposes, consent, retention and international-transfer safeguards.

ZENIT GROUP S.A.S. is established in Colombia and service providers can process technical delivery data in other countries. The contractual transfer, DPA, SCC and transfer-impact assessment is not yet complete. Production use that requires those safeguards remains blocked until the applicable mechanism is assessed and documented; this notice does not claim that a particular safeguard has already been selected. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent or complain to a supervisory authority.
